I thought I’d create a blog post for which the comments section can be kind of like a forum for those attending the Society of Biblical Literature meeting this year. I grew up just outside of New Orleans in St. Bernard Parish, and I know the city relatively well or least better than you if you’ve never been here. I’ve lived in Southeast Louisiana for my entire life. So, if you have any questions for me, feel free to post them below…

PS – If your first question is if you can stay at my place for free, the answer is “no.” Sorry, that’s not a reflection of Southern hospitality. It’s just that I’m already hosting my friends from Stellenbosch afterward.

How far is the Rennaissance Pere Marquette from the convention? Is it walking distance?
It’s a bit of a trek, but it’s doable (I looked and I think it’s about 3/4 of a mile to be exact). It’s not a walk you would want to make a couple of times in a day. But, if you are planning on walking there and back only one time most days it would not be so bad.
I stayed a bit away from the conference both in DC and in San Diego and it worked well for me. I would usually leave to go to the conference and stay there (or nearby) most of the day.
